I bought this wagoneer somewhere around the start of the nineties (previous century...) It's got an inline 6 cylinder engine, and it was built (according to the Dutch titles) in 1967. Whether or not that means I've got a "real" Kaiser or an AMC I don't know.
I soon found out it made funny ticking noises when driving (it was cheap, ok ?), and I thought that would be easily fixed, before having it inspected, and really starting driving it.
NOT !
Some *d*ot had (probably) once driven it's original tranny south, and had replaced it with the first tranny he laid his eyes on. Because this didn't quite fit, he just added a few holes to the "wings" at the rear of the engine, and used those to marry engine and tranny. Also the original dowel-pins didn't have a tight fit (to say the least). Some marriage... When taking it all apart, I found only 6 radial cracks in the flexplate.
Fortunately I found another wagoneer (with a 4-speed manual tranny) at a wrecker nearby. No problem I thought; dismantle the scrap-wagoneer, switch trannies, build in cluth pedal + mechanism, done Right ? Not quite. The old farm which we used to do our stuff was about to collapse (I didn't have a garage of my own at that time), and after we switched trannies (leaving a lot of other stuff to be done) I first started looking for another place. In the end I found a place, but the owner didn't allow wrenching there, so I stored it there (...and a few weeks later the old farm building collapsed during a november storm, right on top of 2 amc pacers of a friend of mine). In the 7 years that followed I had very little time, no garage, moved 2 times, and, and and.
